Tordrillo Mountain Lodge (TML) is a remote heli ski and fishing lodge near the base of the impressive Tordrillo Mountains in Alaska. The project is about 45 minutes west of Anchorage via small plane or helicopter. This backcountry project includes an upgrade and an addition to an existing rustic lodge (Lodge 1) and the construction and detailing of four luxury cabins(Riverside and Lakeside Cabins), an employee housing building, a mess hall to serve the cabins (Moose Hall), a generator building, a fuel tank enclosure, a well house, and full infrastructure upgrades.
Moose Hall , named for the moose images and antler accents in the building, is a mess hall that serves the luxury cabins on site. The hall contains a dining room, living room, expansive kitchen, powder room, and pantry/gear room. The building is constructed of Nordic pine square cut logs from Finland. The interiors have a Nordic pine tongue and groove finish that has been lightly white washed to maintain the light color of the wood. The structure was designed to integrate LED lighting strips as seen in the images. Interior design and furniture selection was a collaboration between Z Architects and Los Griegos Studio.
